Job summary

Construction Material Testing in Burlington, VT seeks a Certified Welding Inspector II to lead visual weld inspections and sign off on reports for structural steel and welds in accordance with AWS D1.1, D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104 as required. Qualifications

Current AWS CWI with at least 2 years of inspection experience.
Proficient with AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX or API 1104.
ICC structural steel and bolting certification preferred (sponsored if not held).
Ability to defend rejection to fabricator and document for retest.

Responsibilities

Perform and sign visual weld inspections with accept/reject authority.
Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
Witness welder performance qualification tests.
Direct and interpret NDT.
Write inspection reports and nonconformance reports.
Inspect fabrication shops and field erection; review high-strength bolting and base plate grouting.
Sign reports for engineer of record and building official.
