Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Certified Welding Inspector II to lead visual weld inspections to code, witness qualifications, and review essential qualification documents. You will oversee NDT coordination, assess fabrication shop and field erection activities, and produce inspection and nonconformance reports for engineers and building officials.

The role covers high-strength bolting, base plate grouting, and maintaining compliance with AWS/D1.x, ASME IX, or API 1104 as required.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI with 2+ years inspection experience.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel and bolting special inspector certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspections with accept/reject authority.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
• Witness welder qualification tests.
• Direct and interpret nondestructive testing.
• Distribute and sign repair instructions and reports.
• Inspect fabrication shops and field erection, including high-strength bolting and base plate grouting as certified.
