Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Welding Inspector I to work under a CWI on structural steel and pipe welding. You will verify fit-up, preheat, and WPS compliance, perform visual inspections, and maintain inspection records to support AWS D1.1 and project codes.

Ideal candidates hold a CAWI or have 3+ years welding/inspection experience, can read weld symbols, and are physically able to work at height and in confined spaces.

Qualifications

• CAWI certification or 3+ years welding/inspection experience.
• Ability to read structural drawings, weld symbols, WPS/PQR.
• Physical ability to work at height, in confined spaces.
• Detail-oriented and honest in weld assessment.

Responsibilities

• Verify joint fit-up, preheat, and WPS compliance.
• Perform visual weld inspection under CWI supervision to AWS D1.1 or D1.5.
• Confirm welder qualifications, consumable control, and equipment calibration records.
• Maintain weld maps, inspection logs, and daily reports.
• Flag rejectable indications for CWI disposition.
• Coordinate NDT (UT, MT, PT) with the NDT technician and record results.
