Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Welding Inspector I to work under a Certified Welding Inspector on structural steel and pipe welding, verifying fit-up, joint preparation, welder qualifications, and WPS compliance.

You will perform visual inspection to AWS D1.1 or governing code, maintain weld maps and logs, and coordinate with NDT to ensure records support CWI disposition. Travel to active sites and overtime may apply.

Qualifications

• AWS CAWI credential or 3+ years welding/inspection experience.
• Reads structural drawings, weld symbols and WPS/PQR documents.
• Able to work at height, in confined spaces, on active erection sites.

Responsibilities

• Verify joint fit-up, preheat and WPS compliance before and during welding.
• Perform visual weld inspection under supervision to AWS D1.1, D1.5, or governing code.
• Confirm welder qualifications, consumable control and equipment calibration records.
• Maintain weld maps, inspection logs, and daily reports.
• Flag rejectable indications for CWI disposition.
• Coordinate NDT testing with the NDT technician and record results.
