Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Welding Inspector I to support structural steel and pipe welding under the supervision of a Certified Welding Inspector. You will verify fit-up and WPS compliance, inspect welds to AWS D1.1 or project codes, and maintain the weld map and inspection log.

The role offers hands-on field work on active erection sites, with growth toward Welding Inspector II as you gain experience and complete AWS CWI certification through the company's sponsorship.

Qualifications

• When CAWI is earned, shows the ability to pursue CWI.
• Reads structural drawings, weld symbols, and WPS/PQR documents.
• Physically able to work at height, in confined spaces, on active erection sites.
• Careful, honest, and precise about weld appearance.

Responsibilities

• Verify joint fit-up, preheat, and WPS compliance before and during welding.
• Perform visual weld inspection under CWI supervision to AWS D1.1, D1.5, or governing code.
• Confirm welder qualifications, consumable control, and equipment calibration records.
• Maintain weld maps, inspection logs, and daily reports.
• Flag rejectable indications for CWI disposition.
• Coordinate NDT (UT, MT, PT) and record results.
