Job description

Pay: $18.00–$21.00 per hour
Full-time | On-site | Savannah, GA

Savannah Tank & Equipment Corporation is expanding its Quality Control team and is seeking a Receiving Quality Inspector to inspect incoming materials before they are released to production.

Previous quality-control experience is helpful, but not required. We are willing to train the right person. This role is a good fit for someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, comfortable working with measurements and documentation, and eager to learn.

What You'll Do
  • Inspect incoming plate, pipe, fittings, heads, and other materials to verify they meet purchase order and job requirements.
  • Verify material specifications, grades, heat numbers, quantities, dimensions, and identification markings.
  • Measure material using tape measures, ultrasonic thickness gauges, and other inspection equipment.
  • Review Material Test Reports (MTRs) and verify that required documentation matches the material received.
  • Complete Receiving Inspection Reports (RIRs) and maintain accurate job-specific quality records.
  • Identify material or documentation that does not meet requirements and place it on hold for review.
  • Clearly and promptly communicate discrepancies to the Quality Control Manager and appropriate team members.
  • Work with Receiving, Purchasing, Engineering, and Quality Control to resolve missing or incorrect documentation.
  • Maintain organized inspection records using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and company systems.
  • Perform other receiving-quality duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate recordkeeping.
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and compare information across purchase orders, drawings, material markings, and inspection documents.
  • Ability to clearly and promptly communicate discrepancies or concerns.
  • Dependable and able to work independently after training.
  • Eager and willing to learn inspection procedures, equipment, material specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Must meet Savannah Tank's pre-employment requirements.
Preferred — Not Required
  • Previous manufacturing, receiving, quality-control, or inspection experience.
  • Experience reading fabrication drawings or blueprints.
  • Experience using measuring or inspection equipment.
  • Familiarity with MTRs or material certifications.
  • Experience in a metal fabrication or welding environment.
  • Familiarity with ASME or API requirements.
