Job summary

COUNTY OF DODGE is seeking a full-time, non-exempt Equipment Technician for the Highway Department in Juneau, Wisconsin. The role involves repairing and maintaining trucks, graders, plows, and other heavy equipment, with an emphasis on welding, hydraulics, and preventative maintenance.

Applicants must be able to read blueprints, troubleshoot hydraulic systems, and work a variable schedule including evenings or weekends during adverse weather.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of welding techniques, methods and practices used in vehicle, equipment, building and bridge maintenance.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Knowledge of hydraulic principles.
• Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and install hydraulic pumps, valves, and rams.

Responsibilities

• Performs repairs and services equipment including trucks, graders, plows, tractors and other self-propelled equipment.
• Diagnoses and repairs hydraulic, steering, suspension, air, hydraulic, and brake systems.
• Performs repair of vehicles, equipment, bridges, signs, posts and weld-related projects.
• Maintains welding equipment and shop tools; conducts preventive maintenance.
• Responds to weather events and emergencies as directed.
• Maintains records of inspections, services and stock.
