Job summary

Moran Iron Works seeks a Welding/Fabricator Intern to support shop floor operations with hands-on welding, precise fabrication, and strict adherence to blueprints and welding codes. This role emphasizes quality, safety, and efficiency within a high-performing production team.

The intern will collaborate with cross-functional teams to minimize material waste, ensure proper fit-ups, and contribute to maintaining company standards while applying academic learnings to real-world fabrication tasks.

Qualifications

• Hands-on welding and fabrication skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret welding symbols.
• Understanding of structural fabrication codes (AWS D1.1, AISC).
• Assist in developing and maintaining Welding Procedures and PQRs.

Responsibilities

• Set up, calibrate, and operate welding equipment for joining structural components.
• Prepare metal components per blueprint specifications through cutting and fit-up.
• Interpret blueprints and welding symbols to plan layouts and assemblies.
• Support development and maintenance of Welding Procedure Specifications and PQRs.
