Job summary

Wells Welding is looking for a Welding Intern to support fabrication and welding operations in a production setting. You will assist with cutting, bending, and assembling metal components under the guidance of experienced welders, developing technical skills and learning safety practices.

This hands-on role provides exposure to blueprints, measurement tools, and fabrication equipment while contributing to safe, efficient day-to-day operations and building a foundation for a welding career.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in or recently completed welding/fabrication program.
  • Motivated to learn and build a career in welding or fabrication.
  • Detail-oriented, safety-conscious, hands-on shop experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist welders and fabricators with fitting, aligning, and welding components.
  • Support moving materials using hoists, cranes, or manual handling.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and layout specifications.
  • Perform basic welds and tack welds under guidance.
  • Use measuring tools to verify dimensions.
  • Prepare materials for cutting and bending.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment.

The Welding Intern supports fabrication and welding operations while gaining hands-on experience in a production environment. This role assists with cutting, bending, and assembling metal components under the guidance of experienced welders. The intern will develop technical skills, learn safety practices, and build a foundational understanding of welding and fabrication processes.

Salary range $24/Hour.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Assist welders and fabricators with fitting, aligning, and welding components
  • Support moving materials using hoists, cranes, or manual handling (under supervision)
  • Help read and interpret blueprints and layout specifications
  • Perform basic welds and tack welds with guidance
  • Use measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure accuracy
  • Assist with grinding, cutting, beveling, and surface preparation
  • Support setup and operation of fabrication equipment (brakes, shears, grinders, etc.)
  • Help mark and prepare materials for cutting and bending
  • Assist with lifting, positioning, and aligning parts for assembly
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

The ideal candidate is motivated to learn and build a career in welding or fabrication. They are detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a hands-on shop environment. This individual takes direction well, shows initiative, and is eager to develop technical skills through on-the-job training.

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a welding/fabrication program
  • Basic understanding of welding and fabrication processes
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints (with guidance)
  • Familiarity with measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers
  • Strong willingness to learn and follow instructions
