A leading company in the automotive sector is looking for a Welding Specialist Engineer to ensure high-quality welds and supplier compliance. This role involves evaluating and managing supplier welding practices, leading improvement initiatives, and providing technical support during product launches. Candidates should have a welding engineering degree and extensive industry experience.
Supplier Quality plays a crucial role in ensuring high-quality products are delivered to customers. Supplier Quality is responsible for ensuring the quality of the products provided by the supplier is consistent with the agreed-upon requirements. This includes establishing quality standards for raw materials, conducting supplier audits, and monitoring supplier performance to ensure compliance. Also, within our Supplier Quality Department, we ask all our engineer's drive change within both plant manufacturing and component suppliers to resolve complex component issues.
The Welding Specialist Engineer employs all the expertise and knowledge in joining metal components to become accountable on the continuous evaluation of weld integrity, interpreting blueprints, and ensuring the welding standards are followed by suppliers. At launch, the WS Engineer is responsible to provide on-site launch support on high-risk suppliers at their facilities to ensure launch readiness as required. At mass production, the WS Engineer is responsible for managing post launch welding continuous improvement activities, such as AQR welding audits and welding action plans on all applicable suppliers, and to report out the results. The WS Engineer will also be responsible for working cross functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Purchasing to ensure proper designs, suppliers, and manufacturing processes are selected.
Overall, the WS engineer will support the SQE on all problem-solving activities relative to weld issues with internal and external organizations, ensuring welding best practices/ lessons learned are applied across the several different vehicle programs.
