Job Summary

Support Kubota Manufacturing of America's Welding Engineering team by assisting with welding process development, quality improvement initiatives, weld documentation, training support, and manufacturing projects. This internship provides hands‑on experience in welding engineering, process optimization, quality assurance, and continuous improvement within a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Roles & Responsibilities

Weld Process Development

• Assist in the design, development, testing, and validation of welding processes and procedures.
• Support engineers in analyzing product specifications and manufacturing requirements.
• Participate in welding trials and process improvement activities.
• Assist with implementing process enhancements that improve quality, efficiency, and safety.

Weld Documentation & Process Standards

• Support the creation, review, and maintenance of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
• Assist in documenting welding procedures, standards, and best practices.
• Help maintain accurate engineering records and technical documentation.
• Participate in the review and update of welding-related work instructions.

Quality Assurance & Inspection Support

• Assist with weld inspections and quality verification activities.
• Support investigations into welding defects and process variation.
• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.

Training & Certification Support

• Collaborate with the Training Department to support welder onboarding and certification activities.
• Assist in preparing training materials and documentation related to welding processes.
• Help track training records and certification requirements.
• Support continuous learning initiatives within welding operations.

Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement Projects

• Collaborate with Welding Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers on process improvement projects.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving welding operations.
• Assist in evaluating equipment, tooling, and production methods.
• Support data collection and analysis related to welding performance metrics.

Professional Development & Team Collaboration

• Participate in engineering meetings, training sessions, and project reviews.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering or Welding Engineering Technology.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented environment.
• Self‑motivated with a willingness to learn and contribute to engineering projects.

• Must be actively pursuing a related degree throughout the internship period.
• Expected graduation date must be December 2027 or later.
• Candidates who have already graduated or who will graduate before December 2027 are not eligible.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with welding processes such as MIG, TIG, Resistance, GMAW and RSW (both semi‑automatic and automatic) or Robotic Welding.
• Basic understanding of welding metallurgy and weld inspection techniques.
• Exposure to manufacturing environments, engineering projects, or laboratory work.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of fabrication, blueprint reading, or GD&T principles.
• Interest in automotive, agricultural, or heavy equipment manufacturing.

Education Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering or Welding Engineering Technology.

Language Requirements

Must be able to read, write, understand, and communicate effectively in English.
