Job summary

BWXT invites applications for a Welding Engineering Intern at its Barberton, OH facility for a summer program of 10-12 weeks. You will support welding engineering projects, assist with procedure development, and participate in shop floor activities to gain hands-on experience in a nuclear environment.

The role emphasizes technical writing, problem solving, and teamwork; housing stipend is offered if you live beyond 50 miles from Barberton. Applicants must be U.S.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled full time in an accredited university/college in Welding Engineering or related field with at least 2 years of coursework completed.
• Prior internship is preferred but not required.
• Experience or knowledge with basic arc welding processes such as GTAW, SMAW, SAW, and GMAW.
• Proficient in Word and Excel; Outlook skills are a plus.
• Excellent technical writing and verbal communication; U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Support welding engineering projects and improvements within a BWXT welding team.
• Lead 5S and process-improvement initiatives for specific shop operations.
• Assist with welding procedure development and interpretation tasks.
• Perform welding operation and system audits as needed.
• Document operational improvements and create job-specific aids and checklists.
• Support data collection and analysis for weld metrics.
