Thermal Engineering International (USA) Inc. (TEi) leads in heat-transfer technology with a full scope from design to service. Our Joplin, MO facility supports welding engineering in a heavy fabrication environment, focusing on ASME BPVC compliance and qualified welding procedures.

The Welding Engineer will review customer specs, develop procedures, and manage welder qualification, while aligning with TEi standards and MITP requirements to ensure project success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • In lieu of degree, a minimum of 5 years of prior related experience in a welding engineering role.
  • Engineer-in-Training or SCWI certification or equivalent experience considered.
  • Hands‑on experience in fabrication or manufacturing setting.
  • Deep working knowledge of ASME BPVC Section VIII, Division 1 and ASME Section IX welding procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee shop floor welding technician activities.
  • Review customer specifications and identify welding requirements.
  • Document review and provide comments or clarifications on requirements.
  • Identify welding requirements and materials of construction for MITP inclusion.
  • Develop new welding procedures for project-specific applications.
  • Determine procedures to be used on each project and include in APL.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement processes.
  • Oversee new hire welders and contractor testing.
  • Create welder testing evaluation methods for onboarding.
  • Create WPS/PQR documentation and maintain records in TWI software.
  • Maintain welder continuity records in TWI software.
  • Perform R&D on new welding techniques and equipment for efficiency.
  • Monitor welder performance and take corrective action.
  • Oversee welding-related training for welders and assemblers.
  • Monitor inventory of weld filler metal and materials.
  • Audit weld filler metal requisition and wire inventory program.
  • Provide weld efficiency data to Sales for quotes.
