Job summary

Daikin Applied is seeking a Senior Welding Engineer to drive welding process excellence in design, QA, and fabrication. You will ensure ASME BPVC IX compliance, generate and review WPS/PQR, and support manufacturing with expert welding guidance.

Role requires hands-on weld work on prototypes, qualification tests, and coordination with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams. Staunton, VA on-site with competitive base salary and bonus potential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field or significant equivalent welding experience.
• 3+ years of experience with quality systems, audits, procedures, and NDE/NDT methods
• 3+ years of hands-on welding experience
• 5+ years of fabrication/manufacturing experience
• Strong working knowledge of ASME BPVC Section IX and AWS codes
• Knowledge of ASME inspection processes (incoming inspection, material certification, in-process inspection)
• Understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment, and welding processes
• Ability to read engineering drawings including weld symbols and finish callouts
• Ability to work with Authorized ASME Inspectors and present documentation
• Strong communication skills to present information to managers and customers
• Proficiency with ERP and PLM systems and Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

• Maintain full compliance with ASME Section IX and welding documentation requirements
• Perform weld sizing calculations for new or modified designs
• Write, review and monitor welding procedures and ASME/AWS code requirements
• Operate welding equipment and read/interpret drawings, WPSs, and PQRs
• Demonstrate knowledge of PT, MT, UT, and RT methods
• Perform RT quality pipe welds and UT quality nozzle welds in all positions including 6G
• Prepare and audit ASME quality records for fabricated equipment and welding personnel
• Perform visual and mechanical inspections per drawings and specs
• Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, vendors and staff to resolve quality issues
• Apply engineering expertise to analyze process efficiency, troubleshoot defects, and drive cost saving improvements
• Ensure compliance with safety programs and quality objectives
• Coordinate daily with department leads to support milestones
• Complete deviations and ECOs as needed
