Job description

Overview

* This position is located in Philadelphia, PA.*

The successful candidate will contribute to the oversight of welding conducted at specific Electric Boat Suppliers and manufacturing facilities. This individual will serve as a lead regional welding engineer for Strategically Outsourced components, stationed at Electric Boat’s Philadelphia, PA facility. This high-visibility position provides technical guidance and welding expertise for Nuclear and Nonnuclear applications. Responsibilities include ensuring welders follow policies and procedures, reviewing onboarding and training programs, evaluating welding non-conformances, reviewing supplier welding performance and documentation for compliance, and overseeing supplier and Electric Boat welder performance.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and ensuring compliance with fabrication and welding specifications
  • Maintaining company standards, procedures, and process improvements in welding
  • Providing technical guidance for construction support and problem resolution
  • Interacting with various departments and external organizations as required
  • Preparing technical reports from audits, testing, research, and investigations
  • Traveling to suppliers and facilities approximately 30% of the year
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering
  • 4+ years of professional engineering experience

Preferred:

  • Understanding of welding metallurgy fundamentals
  • Experience with commercial or military welding specifications
  • Experience in industrial welding, shipbuilding, or heavy fabrication
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint or equivalent)
