Job summary

GTI Fabrication seeks a seasoned Weld Engineer to lead design, control, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes for modular enclosures, containerized systems, and structural weldments. The role emphasizes solid experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Lean Manufacturing, and ISO9001 quality systems.

You will collaborate across Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Weld Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in weld engineering and manufacturing engineering, preferably modular fabrication.
• AWS CWI certification active; NDE is a plus.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD for 3D modeling, 2D drafting, and GD&T.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
• Demonstrated success in process development and production scaling.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for modular fabricated systems and steel structures.
• Develop weld mapping and work instructions.
• Use CAD tools to design fixtures, tooling, and work-holding solutions.
• Translate design requirements into robust production processes.
• Lead NPI efforts from prototype to full-rate production.
• Apply Lean principles to reduce waste and improve flow.
• Integrate automated and digital manufacturing technologies.
• Collaborate to ensure manufacturability and alignment with production capability.
• Utilize ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) to manage process documentation.
• Mentor technicians and junior engineers in best practices.
