Job summary

GTI Fabrication is seeking a highly experienced Weld Engineer to lead design, control, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes for modular fabrication, containerized enclosures, and steel weldments in Phoenix.

You will collaborate across Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain, apply Lean and ISO9001, use SolidWorks/AutoCAD, and guide NPI from prototype to full-rate production with real-time ERP visibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Weld Engineering.
• Experience in weld and manufacturing engineering, prefer modular fabrication, defense, energy, or industrial equipment.
• Active AWS CWI certification; NDE experience a plus.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD for 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
• Proven success in process development and production scaling.
• Hands-on experience with containerization, modular product platforms, and structural weldments.
• Familiarity with ISO9001 quality systems and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for modular fabricated systems and steel structures.
• Develop weld mapping and work instructions.
• Use CAD tools to design fixtures, tooling, and work-holding solutions.
• Translate engineering design requirements into robust production processes.
• Lead NPI efforts from prototype through full-rate production.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing to reduce waste and improve flow.
• Integrate automated and digital manufacturing technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability and production capability.
• Utilize NetSuite to manage process documentation and real-time operations visibility.
• Mentor technicians and junior engineers in best practices.
