Challenge Manufacturing is seeking a Welding Engineer for its Bridgeton, MO plant. This AM-PM shift role focuses on developing and maintaining welding techniques, procedures, and setup sheets to meet automotive quality standards.

You will lead line verification, drive cost reductions, and collaborate with maintenance and vendors to improve weld quality and process standardization across multiple welding methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Welding Engineering or equivalent in welding principals
• 1-3 years’ experience in a welding manufacturing environment; automotive experience preferred
• Experience with RSW, GMAW and DAW on low carbon and high strength steels
• Robotic welding experience (ABB and Fanuc preferred)
• Destructive testing experience for RSW, DAW and GMAW
• 5+ years RSW, GMAW and DAW experience in automotive welding manufacturing preferred
• Experience with Tessonics RSWA or other UT devices preferred
• Training inexperienced people with destructive and nondestructive testing preferred
• Developing and writing work instructions for welding and inspection operations preferred
• Excellent planning, organizational, written and verbal communication skills; MS Office proficiency preferred
• Ability to work with sense of urgency to meet customer needs
• Willingness to rotate through all job responsibilities
• Maintains knowledge and skills to perform job effectively

Responsabilités

• Maintain welding processes to Challenge Manufacturing standards
• Reduce costs via continuous improvement for safety, quality, and productivity
• Define recommended welding spare parts
• Develop and maintain weld parameter/setup sheets
• Support and lead new line launch verification projects
• Work with maintenance and quality to improve weld quality
• Implement, test, and monitor products in production equipment
• Drive standardization across joining processes: GMAW, DAW, RSW, SPR, FDS
• Develop training documentation for joining processes
• Troubleshoot welding issues on production tooling
• Develop welding schedules for GMAW, RSW, DAW on ferrous/nonferrous materials
• Participate in design reviews for upcoming projects
• Interface with equipment vendors and customers
