Custom Engineering Company in Erie, PA is seeking a Welding Engineer to oversee welding engineering, quality compliance, and procedures for ASME Section VIII Div. 1 vessels, AWS/NAVSEA codes.

The role bridges code compliance with shop-floor execution, acting as liaison between customers and production, collaborating with Operations, Quality, and Fabrication to ensure flawless project delivery. Responsibilities include developing WPS/PQR, managing WPQ, training welders, audits, and ensuring

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering or Welding Engineering Technology.
• Deep knowledge of welding carbon steel, stainless steel, Inconel, and other materials.
• Strong reading of complex engineering drawings and customer specs.
• Welding codes: ASME IX, AWS D1.1, NAVSEA.
• Welding procedures, WPQ testing, and training responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) per ASME IX, AWS D1.1, NAVSEA, and customer specs.
• Review orders, drawings, and specs to ensure qualified procedures exist to perform work on all orders.
• Monitor welding operations, resolve non-conformances, and manage NDE requirements with Quality.
