This full-time, permanent position focuses on developing welding technologies tied to new product requirements, supporting operations with equipment knowledge, and guiding weld method improvements across multiple manufacturing processes.

You will lead root-cause analyses, train weld staff, and coordinate with quality, maintenance, and engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 5+ years of related experience or equivalent.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office at an intermediate level.
  • Experience with MQ1 and QAD Database systems.
  • Demonstrates cooperation and commitment to the team.
  • Adaptive to a fast-paced environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude with hands-on welding knowledge.

Job description

WELDING ENGINEER NEEDED - TECUMSEH, MICHIGAN AREA

A Leading Automotive Supplier near Tecumseh, Michigan needs a Welding Engineer. This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Salary Exempt Position offering Competitive Compensation, Bonus Potential, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays and Paid Vacation. Some Overtime and Travel may be Required.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Works on Corporate strategic projects.
  • Develop new Welding Technologies related to new products requirement.
  • Support Operations in acquiring the needed level of equipment knowledge.
  • Provide key input into the development of departmental strategic goals along with identifying key measurable to support the departmental goals.
  • Specify welding equipment, welding consumables, electrical and mechanical systems, robotic systems, and any related components associated with the welding process.
  • Assist in development of the weld quality control process.
  • Guides develops and tests welding methods, materials, processes and results.
  • Assist Quality Assurance department in maintaining weld integrity. Interface with manufacturing and maintenance to resolve welding and welding system issues.
  • Assist with MRO crib activities.
  • Support project engineering on new and existing programs.
  • Assist in the integration, start-up and debug of plant floor welding equipment.
  • Champion assigned engineering changes, communicate and coordinate accordingly to all departments.
  • Train, coach and mentor the welding process for weld engineers, manufacturing and skilled trades colleagues.
  • Direct and/or participate in root cause analysis and team problem solving activities (ex. 8-D reports, department meetings, etc.).
  • Review and resolve all weld cut and etch and destruct related issues.
  • Support new model launches and improvement teams.
  • Support tool tryouts at supplier and in-house capability runs.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's Degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; five years plus related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of Education & Experience.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office at an intermediate level
  • Ability to work with MQ1 and QAD Database

  • Exposure to and experience with Projection Welding Processes
