AUTOKINITON is seeking a skilled Welding Engineer to advance welding technologies for new products and support plant floor automation. You will specify equipment, develop quality controls, and mentor teams in welding methods and safety standards.

The role involves hands-on welding across manual and automated processes, robot programming, and collaboration with engineering and operations to meet stringent product specs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with five years plus related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Hands-on experience in manual and automated welding processes.
  • Knowledge of MIG and Spot-welding processes.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, safety, quality and workflow.
  • Excellent hands-on welding and training skills.
  • Knowledge in robotic welding and material handling applications.
  • Knowledge in robotic programming (e.g. ABB, Fanuc robots).
  • Understanding of electrical/controls circuitry and schematics.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and weld drawings.
  • Mechanical ability.
  • Specialized knowledge of weld power source, wire feeder, torch and reamer.
  • Plasma cutting, grinding and rework applications.
  • Electrical enclosures and power requirements for welding.
  • Customer welding specifications and testing requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop welding technologies related to product requirements.
  • Support Operations with equipment knowledge.
  • Contribute to department strategic goals with measurable inputs.
  • Specify welding equipment, consumables, and systems for welding.
  • Assist in development of weld quality control processes.
  • Guide design, development, testing of welding methods and materials.
  • Support project engineering on new and existing programs.
  • Assist integration, start-up and debugging of plant welding equipment.
  • Champion engineering changes and coordinate across departments.
  • Train, coach and mentor welding process for engineers and trades.
  • Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving activities (e.g., 8D reports).

Job description

To help us drive excellence, you'll get to:
  • Develop new welding technologies related to new products requirement.
  • Support Operations in acquiring the needed level of equipment knowledge.
  • Provide key input into the development of departmental strategic goals along with identifying key measurable to support the departmental goals.
  • Specify welding equipment, welding consumables, electrical and mechanical systems, robotic systems, and any related components associated with the welding process.
  • Assist in development of the weld quality control process.
  • Guides design develops and tests welding methods, materials, processes and results.
  • Support project engineering on new and existing programs.
  • Assist in the integration, start-up and debug of plant floor welding equipment.
  • Champion assigned engineering changes, communicate and coordinate accordingly to all departments.
  • Train, coach and mentor the welding process for weld engineers, manufacturing and skilled trades colleagues.
  • Direct and/or participate in root cause analysis and team problem solving activities (ex. 8D reports, department meetings, etc.).

This full-time, salary, role is a part of our Engineering Team and reports to the Engineering Manager.

Required experience:
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; five years plus related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Hands on experience in manual and automated welding processes
  • Working knowledge of MIG and Spot-welding processes
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, product designs, safety, quality and workflow
  • Excellent "hands on" welding and training skills.
  • Knowledge in robotic welding and material handling applications.
