Job summary

Thompson Pipe Group in Grand Prairie, Texas is seeking a CWI-certified Welding Inspector to uphold the highest quality standards on pressure, coating, and construction projects. You will work closely with production, operations, engineering, and project management to detect and resolve quality issues before products ship.

Responsibilities include interpreting QA procedures, performing inspections with precision tools, coordinating NDE/NDT, leading internal audits, and maintaining thorough

Qualifications

• QA/QC experience in related industry.
• Hands-on exposure to concrete, civil, coatings, welding, and/or NDE/NDT.
• Level I/equivalent training or certification (e.g., ACI Field Testing; MT, PT, RT, UT, VT per ASNT SNT-TC-1A or NAS 410).
• Level II/equivalent preferred; AWS CWI or CAWI.
• HS diploma or GED; STEM AA/BS welcomed.
• Excel-centric Microsoft Office skills.
• Bilingual English/Spanish ability.

Responsibilities

• Read, interpret, and apply the Quality Manual, repair procedures, codes, specifications, drawings, and SOPs.
• Collect, prepare, process, and report material samples using hand/power tools and lab equipment.
• Proctor welder and welding-operator qualification testing and maintain logs.
• Use micrometers, calipers, holiday detectors, and thickness gauges to perform inspections.
• Execute, evaluate, and report inspections for BLE, SPP, and Fittings departments and qualified vendors.
• Coordinate with outside exam vendors for NDE/NDT and oversee their work.
• Lead internal audits independently and train teammates as assigned.
• Own QA documentation including inspection/test reports, NCRs, and logs.
• Maintain OJT records and pursue advanced certifications (ACI, AWS, NACE/SPCC, NDE/NDT).

Ensure our Pressure products meet the highest standards by working shoulder-to-shoulder with production and operations, and by partnering with engineering and project management to solve quality challenges before they leave the plant.

Can you...

• Read, interpret, and apply the TPG Quality Manual, repair procedures, codes, specifications, drawings, and SOPs?
• Collect, prepare, process, and report material samples (weld coupons, concrete cylinders, cement-mortar lining) using hand/power tools and lab equipment?
• Proctor welder and welding-operator qualification testing and maintain thorough records and logs?
• Use micrometers, calipers, holiday detectors, and thickness gauges to perform in-process and final inspections?
• Execute, evaluate, and report inspections for BLE, SPP, and Fittings departments and qualified vendors (coating, concrete, dimensional, lining, loading, welding)?
• Conduct, assess, and document NDE/NDT and coordinate with outside exam vendors while overseeing their work?
• Lead internal audits independently and train less-experienced teammates as assigned?
• Own documentation: QA inspection/test reports; calibration, certification, and lab records; production record status and close-out; NCRs and nonconforming product logs?
• Maintain OJT records and pursue advanced certifications (ACI, AWS, NACE/SPCC, NDE/NDT)?

You’ll Stand Out If You Bring

• QA/QC or production experience in a related industry.
• Hands-on exposure to concrete, civil, coatings, welding, and/or NDE/NDT.

• Level II/equivalent preferred; AWS CWI (preferred) or CAWI.
• Education: HS diploma or GED; trade school in related technology; STEM AA/BS welcomed.

• Bilingual English/Spanish ability.
