Job summary

CF Rail Services, LLC is seeking a Mechanical Railcar Repair Technician 2 for 2nd shift. The role focuses on repairing railcars and welding across multiple positions, with shift schedules from 2:30pm-11:00pm or 4:30pm-1:00am based on production needs.

You will complete required CFRS training, pass FCAW certifications, and document defect diagnostics, while using equipment such as forklifts, cranes, and hoists on a daily basis.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; formal training preferred.
• Completion with 80%+ in AAR Interchange Rules, Freight Car Inspection Overview, Basics of Railroad Wheels, FRA Safety Appliance Standards, Coupler & Draft Systems, and other CF Rail training modules.

Responsibilities

• Repair railcars and perform FCAW welding per procedures.
• Meet CFRS welding qualifications (3/4" plate, all positions).
• Operate equipment like forklift, crane, and hoist as required.
• Troubleshoot defects and document findings per procedures.
