Job summary

Ranken Technical College seeks an experienced Welding and Fabrication Instructor to prepare and teach courses, conduct labs, and guide students through hands-on projects. You will ensure safe shop practices and contribute to curriculum development.

The role requires an associate degree with welding experience and strong communication, planning, and mentoring abilities. Preference for teaching background; on-site work in St. Louis, MO with ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree with at least 5 years of experience in welding & fabrication.
  • Certificate in Welding & Fabrication with at least 7 years of experience.
  • Community college/technical school teaching experience preferred but will train.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate students of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to weld with SMAW, GMAW, GTAW in all positions.
  • Mechanically inclined with repair experience on industrial equipment.
  • Computer literate in MS Office.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned theory and lab classes; plan daily activities and supervise student work.
  • Instruct and evaluate students in live welding and fabrication projects; enforce safety standards.
  • Maintain a safe worksite and gym equipment; assist in equipment upkeep.
  • Assist in development of curriculum, syllabi, scheduling, budgeting, hiring, and other duties.
  • Participate in college governance, committees, advising, and training to stay current with industry standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by department chair or management.

Purpose of the Role

Prepares for and teaches Welding and Fabrication Technology courses and conducts labs as assigned by the department chair of the Welding and Fabrication Technology department.

Responsibilities
  • Teaches assigned theory and lab classes. Plans daily activities for students in theory and lab. Supervises students for both theory and technical project grades.
  • Instructs and evaluates students in a live work setting who are performing welding and fabrication, to include instruction in shop safety.
  • Maintains a safe worksite and enforces Ranken’s safety standards.
  • Assists in the maintenance of lab and classroom equipment.
  • Assists management with developing curriculum and syllabi, scheduling, budgeting, hiring, and other duties.
  • Participates in college governance, committee work, student advising, etc.
  • Participates in available training to keep current in Welding and Fabrication Technology.
  • Assists in maintaining requirements of industry standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by authorized individual.
