Job Details Job Location: Building 1 - Rothschild, WI 54474 Position Type: Full Time Travel Percentage: None Job Shift: 1st Shift Position Overview: Wausau Tile is seeking a hardworking, dependable, and safety-focused Production Welder to join our Weld Shop team. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating, welding, and assembling metal components used to reinforce cast concrete products. Daily tasks include cutting, grinding, bending, and interpreting blueprints and spec sheets, as well as operating MIG and wire-feed welding equipment. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision. A strong commitment to quality, safety, and equipment maintenance is essential to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Production Welding: Use MIG and wire-feed welding equipment to join metal components for concrete product reinforcement.
  • Fabrication Work: Measure, cut, bend, and grind metal components to prepare for welding.
  • Equipment Setup & Maintenance: Set up and maintain welding machines, grinders, and other shop tools.
  • Material Handling: Use forklifts, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes to safely move materials.
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished welds using straightedges and templates to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Blueprint Reading: Accurately read and interpret blueprints, spec sheets, and work orders.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Troubleshooting: Detect faulty operations or material issues and report to supervision.
  • Team Support: Assist with training and mentoring other team members when needed.
Tools & Equipment Used
  • MIG welders and wire-feed welding equipment
  • Shielded metal arc welders
  • Grinders, carbon rod gauging tools, hand/power tools
  • Forklifts, pallet jacks, overhead cranes
  • Measuring tools: straightedges, templates, etc.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Prolonged standing, walking, bending, squatting, and kneeling
  • Frequent repetitive motions (hands, wrists, arms)
  • Climbing ladders and stairs as needed
  • Comfortable working in varying temperatures and shop environments
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Welding Certification or Technical Training is required
  • Proficient in MIG and wire-feed welding techniques
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work independently
  • Experience operating fabrication equipment and material handling tools
  • Willingness to assist in training and support leadership when needed
