Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking a Welder for our Grand Rapids facility. You will perform welding in various positions, fabricate parts, and participate in training for ASME/PED certifications, with multi-shift opportunities and overtime as needed.

The role emphasizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement. You will be cross-trained, follow standard work instructions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to keep production flowing smoothly.

Qualifications

  • Completion of formal welding program or equivalent on the job experience.
  • Required Weld Process: 2F, 2G.
  • Preferred Weld Process: 3F, 3G, 4F, 4G.
  • Completion of company approved proficiency test prior to employment.
  • Manufacturing experience is preferred but not required.
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow directions, standard work, job breakdown sheets, and safety instructions in English.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment.
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug screen is required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs in and out of position welding.
  • Performs hand fabricating.
  • Participate in weld lab classroom training for Trane and ASME/PED certifications as needed.
  • Receives work instructions from a member of management or a team lead.
  • Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and hoists
  • Performing quality checks and tests as well as assisting in identifying and resolving problems.
  • Must participate in basic problem solving, 5-S, and lean activities.
  • Maintain and inspect tools and equipment and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Basic functional knowledge of computers and ability to read and acknowledge work instructions electronically.
  • Effectively communicate with cross-functional departments to ensure parts are brought to the production line in a timely manner.
  • Work any shift and work overtime as necessary to ensure that production demands are met.
  • Crosstrain both within and outsidethe assigned production area.
  • Use all required personal protective equipment.
  • Comply with all established plant rules and policies.
  • Contribute in a positive manner to the work teams inthe assigned work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
