Job Responsibilities

The role involves performing all types of MIG horizontal and downhill welding throughout the department during regular operating hours. This includes welding components such as container units, cabinets, drawers, doors, and other parts assigned to this department.

Essential Job Functions

• Perform welding using electric, acetylene, and/or arc-air equipment.
• Evaluate and coordinate welding needs and repairs as necessary.
• Perform maintenance tasks to prevent damage to machinery, equipment, tools, and materials.
• Maintain good housekeeping in the plant and work areas.

Qualifications

The candidate must possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations. Minimum requirements include:

• Ability to understand and execute both simple and complex oral and written instructions.
• Effective communication skills with supervisors, lead-men, and co-workers.
• Physical ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and move objects weighing up to 75 pounds, including odd-shaped items.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
• Willingness to undergo additional training related to job duties.

Most work (approximately 90%) is performed indoors but may be affected by environmental and weather conditions. The job requires climbing and working at heights over 5 feet, walking around the plant, and maintaining alertness and coordination during welding tasks.

Schedule

Hours: 8 to 10 hours per day.

Workweek: 40 to 50 hours, with potential for overtime.

Breaks: Half-hour lunch.

Work posture: The role involves sitting (20%) in awkward positions and standing, with frequent movement around the plant.
