Job summary

Shirley Contracting Company in Richmond, VA is seeking a full-time Bridge Welder. You will operate grinding tools, read welding notations and select materials to meet project specifications, with start times at 6:00 AM and potential overtime.

This role requires 2+ years of bridge welding experience, current certs for ¾” and below, AWS D1.1/D1.5 preferred, a valid US driver’s license, and ability to pass DOT physical and drug screening.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience operating as a construction/bridge welder.
• Current and valid certification for ¾” and lower required.
• AWS D1.1 and D1.5 certification preferred, or the practical field knowledge to obtain certificates.
• Knowledge of construction site best practices and safety procedure.

Responsibilities

• Operate angle grinders and other small tools to prepare parts for welding.
• Read and interpret standard welding notations.
• Select proper materials, measure and cut to specifications.
• Field - Field install welds, including weld pile, bearings, SIP decking and other bridge structural elements.
• Shop – Fabricate and repair buckets, blades, trench boxes, vehicle parts, and specialized tools.
• Select proper fillers for jobs based on previous experience or project instructions.
• Coordinate with field and/or shop for required schedule of repairs.
• Operator welding truck and maintains the materials, tools and equipment on the truck.
