Job summary

The Senior Level Welder at Oryx Advanced Materials in Fremont, CA, will perform GTAW welding on containers from low carbon steel or stainless steel and conduct helium leak tests before high vacuum and high-pressure processing.

You will fabricate tooling, train junior welders, maintain vacuum systems, and ensure safe stock levels while keeping the shop clean and compliant with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience with GTAW welding and helium leak testing.
• Ability to train junior welders in tool safety and welding practices.
• Willingness to perform production support tasks and tooling fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Fabricates tooling and equipment for production support and new processes.
• Trains junior welders in safe tool use and welding procedures.
• Maintains vacuum systems for bake-out ovens and performs maintenance.
• Maintains stock levels of consumables and ensures shop cleanliness.
• Supports production with mechanical maintenance and repair as needed.

The Senior Level Welder is skilled in GTAW welding techniques to assemble containers made from low carbon steel or stainless steel. Welds will be helium leak tested before being exposed to high vacuum and high-pressure processes.

This welder is highly proficient using tools such as metal shear, band saw, cut off saw, leak detector, manual mill, grinders, sanding equipment and general shop tools. Advises and trains junior level welders in safe use of these tools.

Fabricates tooling and equipment as needed for production support and development of new processes. Trains junior level welders in these activities.

Identifies equipment needed for welding area. Maintains safe stock level of consumables used in the welding area.

Supports production by providing mechanical maintenance and repair of equipment as needed.

Maintains vacuum system for bake out ovens.

Maintains shop cleanliness by mopping, dusting, dumping trash and general housekeeping.

Attention will be given to applicants that can demonstrate working knowledge of, but not limited to

• Sheet Metal layout, shearing, and rolling

A test will be given during the interview. Please bring your own helmet and gloves to interview.

This job requires the ability to lift 50lbs.

Shift Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.

Welding skill check, background check, and drug test will be performed before hiring.
