SUMMARY: THIS POSITION IS FOR FULL-TIME SECOND SHIFT. Starting schedule during training will be Monday to Friday 6AM-3PM and transition to full-time second-shift 2PM-11PM. This position is primarily responsible for welding metal kits into finish goods by performing the following duties. Qualification for benefits will begin after a three-month probation period.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Read drawings and blueprints to determine positioning of parts.

· Read measuring tapes and calipers for positioning of parts.

· Cleans or degreases parts.

· Positions parts in jigs or fixtures on table, bench or floor, or clamps parts together along layout marks.

· Lays out, positions, and tack welds workpieces.

· Welds along vertical or overhead weld lines.

· Holds torch at proper angle to metal and guides along weld joint, applying filler rod to molten area to form weld.

· Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.

· Repairs broken or cracked metal objects, fills holes, and builds up metal parts.

· Scarfs or grooves weld prior to applying filler metal.

· Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or spatter.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

SKILLS:

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
