Job summary

Downing in Oklahoma is seeking a Saw Operator/Material Handler to join our manufacturing team. This on-site role will operate the automatic feed CNC band saw, move materials, inspect workmanship, and help keep equipment and the shop clean and safe.

You will read production orders and blueprints, perform basic gauging, traceability labeling, and maintain inventory locations. Candidates should be mechanically inclined with basic math and good communication skills, minimum HS diploma.

Qualifications

• Min 1 year of maintenance, mechanical experience
• Basic reading of safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions

What is a Saw Operator/Material Handler?

The Saw Operator/Material Handler primarily works in the machining area. Responsibilities include machine operations, material movement and general equipment upkeep.

In this role, you will:

• Load, set-up and operate the automatic feed CNC band saw
• Inspect work with the use of gauging
• Perform traceability marking and documentation
• Read production orders, gauges interpret blueprints and material specifications
• Basic equipment maintenance, shop housekeeping, chip disposal, equipment, and tooling upkeep
• Operation of overhead crane and forklift
• Sort and place raw material and finished goods in specific locations, while maintaining system integrity
• Perform other basic manufacturing and shop duties as required

Required and Preferred Abilities:

• Minimum 1 year of maintenance, mechanical
• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures
• Mechanically inclined with basic understanding of machinery and tooling
• Perform basic math
• Some computer knowledge

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

• Required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear
• Operate, handle, and lift shop equipment and tools and products up to 50 lbs.
• Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, vibrations and moving mechanical parts
• Noise level in the shop may be loud

Education:

• High school degree or equivalent, may be waived if you have two years of related experience and/or training
