• Experience with MIG, TIG, and Stick welding methods.
• Ability to work from drawings, submittals, and specifications.

Responsibilities

ColonialWebb is seeking experienced Welder/Fitter (candidate experienced in both areas) to join our team in Richmond. As a Welder/Fitter, you will lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and weld piping systems, fixtures, and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, and industrial processing systems.

A Day in the Life

• Weld pipes/metals with various techniques, such as MIG, TIG, and Stick
• Determine required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques
• Select type and size of pipe and related materials per job specifications
• Plan sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and coordinate with other construction activities
• Assemble and install a variety of metal pipe and fittings, including carbon steel and stainless steel
• Secure pipes to structures with clamps, brackets, and hangers, using hand tools
• Test piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure and observing gauges
• Remove slag and rough spots with grinders, files, or scrapers

You Should Have

• Ability to obtain AWS 6G certification through ColonialWebb
• Experience with MIG, TIG, and Stick welding methods
• Experience with cutting and assembling pipe
• Knowledge of welding rods and fluxes
• Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations
• Ability to work from drawings, submittals, and specifications (preferred)
• Basic construction/shop math skills
