Job summary

Carolina Pipe Fabrication, LLC is seeking a skilled Shop Welder to join MSS operations in a fast-paced shop environment. You will work with the Shop Foreman to meet production schedules, read detailed drawings, and weld piping segments to plan using MIG, TIG, and Stick processes.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of pipe welding experience, can pass a 6G test, own hand tools, and can pass background and drug checks. Equal opportunity employer with safety at the core.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years' pipe welding (shop or field) including MIG, TIG and Stick.
• Must pass in-house 6G welding test and have own hand tools.
• High School diploma or equivalent; background check and drug test required.
• 6G certification or ability to pass the test.

Responsibilities

• Work with Shop Foreman and Superintendent to meet production schedule.
• Set up and review drawings and materials for orders.
• Perform welding according to order using various welding methods.
• Fabricate piping segments and attach fittings per plans.
• Read Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and weld accordingly.
• Weld in flat, vertical or overhead positions and inspect welds.
• Follow safety policies and perform other duties as assigned.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Work with Shop Foreman and Superintendent to meet production schedule
• Provide the best quality and productive work without constant reminder
• Set up and review detailed drawings and materials for order
• Perform welding procedure according to order
• Fabricate and construct piping segments and attach fittings according to plans
• Use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metals components, or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products or pipe.
• Read a Weld Procedure Specification (WPS) to produce a weld according to the requirements of the procedure.
• Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions. Ignite torches or start power suppliers, and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded.
• Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding and submerged arc welding.
• Recognize, set-up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
• Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Check to ensure that each job order is accurate and complete.
• Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors.
• Communicate with superintendent and management
• Follows all safety policies and procedures.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
• Other such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company from time to time.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years' pipe welding (shop or field) to include all of the following procedures:
  • MIG
  • TIG
  • Stick
• Must be able to pass an in-house welding test (6G criteria)
• Must have own hand tools
• Required Education: High School diploma and/or equivalent work experience.
• Must successfully pass a background check.
• 6G Certified or ability to pass test

• Regular and supervisory probation period required, if applicable.
• Random drug testing is required.
• Valid's driver license and clean driving record required.
• Must successfully pass a background check and drug test.
• Physical Demands: Occasional sitting, frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and climbing. Constant standing, walking, reaching and gripping. Vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to talk and hear. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (maximum solo lift) and constant lifting to 25 lbs., placing this position in the very heavy physical demand classification (PDC).
• Material Handling:? lifting from floor level to overhead, with occasional lifting up to 115 lbs. frequent lifting up to 50 lbs. and constant lifting up to 25 lbs., placing the position in the very heavy physical demand classification (PDC).Required Education: High School graduate or equivalent.

Work Environment:

Exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold, high noise intensity level, atmospheric conditions, exposure to electrical shock, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, wet and/or humid, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, working high exposure places.
