Job summary

MSS Solutions, LLC is seeking a Welder - Mechanical in Charlotte, NC. The role focuses on pipe welding across field projects, following WPS specifications and maintaining quality during fabrication and assembly.

The welder will operate various welding processes and ensure adherence to safety policies. The position requires at least 3 years of pipe welding experience, the ability to read blueprints, and the capability to pass an in-house welding test (6G).

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of pipe welding experience (field).
  • Ability to perform MIG, TIG, and STICK welding procedures.
  • Must be able to pass an in-house welding test (6G criteria).
  • Must have own hand tools and pass a background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metals components or fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products or pipes.
  • Read a Weld Procedure Specification (WPS) to produce a weld according to the requirements of the procedure.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals.
  • Fabricate and construct piping segments and attach fittings that require field fit-up, erection, and assembly.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
  • Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors.

Roles And Responsibilities
  • Use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metals components or fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products or pipes.
  • Read a Weld Procedure Specification (WPS) to produce a weld according to the requirements of the procedure.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. Ignite torches or start power suppliers and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded.
  • Fabricate and construct piping segments and attach fittings that require field fit-up, erection, and assembly.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
  • Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding, and submerged arc welding.
  • Examine workpieces for defects and measure workpieces to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures.
  • Other such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the company from time to time.
Qualifications And Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of pipe welding (field) to include all the following procedures:
  • MIG
  • TIG
  • Stick
  • Must be able to pass an in-house welding test (6G criteria)
  • Must have own hand tools.
  • Must successfully pass a background check and drug test
  • Ability to weld diverse types of metals
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Physical Demands: Occasional sitting, frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and climbing. Constant standing, walking, reaching and gripping. Vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to talk and hear. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (maximum solo lift) and constant lifting to 25 lbs., placing this position in the very heavy physical demand classification (PDC).
  • Material Handling:? lifting from floor level to overhead, with occasional lifting up to 115 lbs. frequent lifting up to 50 lbs. and constant lifting up to 25 lbs., placing the position in the very heavy physical demand classification (PDC).?
Work Environment

Exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold, high noise intensity level, atmospheric conditions, exposure to electrical shock, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, wet and/or humid, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, working high exposure places.
