Job summary

Sims Metal is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic at our York, PA facility to support hydraulic, air, and electrical systems and perform routine maintenance to minimize downtime. This role requires 2–4 years of mechanical experience, physical labor, and strong safety values.

Responsibilities

• Display a complete working knowledge of 12 and 24 Volt Electrical Systems, Air Systems, Hydraulic Systems and Power Transmission Systems, employing to diagnose and correct equipment deficiencies.
• Ability to change hydraulic cylinders on equipment.
• Ability to safely disassemble major components from equipment.
• Ability to discern when a piece of equipment is operating properly following corrective maintenance.
• Ability to read parts and service manuals and identify needed parts for ordering.
• Ability to fabricate and install hydraulic hoses.
• Ability to recognize when problems require additional diagnosis and seek assistance when problems are outside of the expectations of a “B” level mechanic to correct.
• Ability to diagnose and correct common failures with mobile equipment.
• Ability to repair or rebuild minor components such as brake systems on equipment, etc.
