Job summary

JAQUITH INDUSTRIES INC is a family-owned manufacturing company located in New York. We seek dedicated welders to perform various welding operations on standard and customized weldments from prefabricated sheet metal components.

Shifts run Monday through Thursday from 1pm to 11:30pm with overtime opportunities. Responsibilities include reading shop drawings, setting up workstations, applying proper bead, adhering to quality standards, and performing inspections.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED and 3 years of welding experience.
• Good oral and written communication skills; positive mentoring qualities.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding operations based on shop records and drawings.
• Set up workstation from shop drawings for specific jobs.
• Manipulate welding gun and ensure proper fill/bead to meet quality tests.
• Follow quality control standards for quantity and quality.
• Perform first piece inspection and periodic visual/gauges checks.
• Perform grinding to dress weldments.
• Move materials using lift equipment; inspect daily lift truck operations.
• Read and interpret measuring devices and read gauges.
• Follow lockout/tagout and safety policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Perform welding operations based on interpreting shop records and drawings and assemble and measurement details.
• Work from shop drawings and sketches to set up workstation for specific jobs.
• Manipulate welding gun and lay proper fill or bead to meet and satisfy pressure testing requirements.
• Follow quality control standards to ensure meeting quality and quantity requirements.
• Obtain first piece inspection approval and periodically visually inspect and/or gauge work for quality appearance and dimensional accuracies.
• Perform grinding operations to dress the appearance of weldments.
• To maintain continuous movement of work, use hand truck, lift truck, lift hoist or overhead crane to move material to and from storage, staging areas, or workstation.
• Perform daily lift truck inspections
• Read and accurately interpret measuring devices
• Act as authorized employee for the lock out / tag out program
• Adhere to established safety rules and policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 3 years work experience.
• Possess and demonstrate positive mentoring and leadership qualities.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Participate in training events (ie; Lockout/Tagout; HazCom; and overhead crane training)
• Treat all co-workers with dignity and respect.
• Basic math skills.
• Basic organizational skills.
• Positive attitude towards work and work environment.

EQUIPMENT LISTING (MACHINES, TOOLS & SOFTWARE):

Will work with sheet metal, plastic and aluminum, stainless steel, copper, orders, parts and drawings, using a variety of tools, including shears, press brakes, punch presses, hand truck, Lift Truck, overhead crane, disc sanders, belt sanders, hand tools, micrometers and gages, and a variety of power tools and hand tools.
