Job summary

IKO Industries is seeking a Welder Journeyman at our Missouri plant to fabricate, assemble, install and repair metal structures and equipment. The role supports plant machinery, ensuring safe and reliable operation throughout the manufacturing process.

The position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. The candidate will perform welding with MIG, TIG, SMAW, FCAW, read blueprints, and inspect welds to meet specs; operate welding equipment; and assist with preventive maintenance and documentation

Qualifications

• Journeyman-level welding experience or completion of a recognized apprenticeship program.
• Welding certifications preferred (AWS or equivalent).
• Proficiency in MIG, TIG, SMAW, FCAW welding processes.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings and manuals.
• Strong knowledge of NDT/SDT testing methods and acceptance criteria.
• Strong knowledge of safety practices and LOTO procedures.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and mentor junior welders.

• Maintain documentation of work and materials used.
• Collaborate with supervisors, engineers and other trades to complete projects on schedule.
• Follow safety procedures, including PPE and lockout/tagout.

Job Summary

The role supports plant machinery, ensuring safe and reliable operation throughout the vertically integrated shingle manufacturing operation. The position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding using MIG, TIG, SMAW, FCAW, and other approved processes.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, specifications, and welding symbols.
• Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal components, structures, and mechanical assemblies.
• Measure, cut, grind, and prepare materials for welding.
• Inspect completed welds to ensure quality, strength, and compliance with specifications.
• Operate welding machines, cutting torches, plasma cutters, grinders, and related hand and power tools.
• Conduct NDT and SDT testing of applicable welds.
• Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and tools.
• Assist tradesmen with preventive and predictive maintenance on production equipment.
• Follow lockout/tagout procedures and all safety procedures, including PPE use.
• Utilize Maximo CMMS to work from detailed work orders, schematics, and engineering drawings.
• Maintain accurate documentation of work completed and materials used.
• Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and other skilled trades to complete projects on schedule.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Qualifications

• Journeyman-level welding experience or completion of a recognized apprenticeship program.
• Welding certifications preferred (AWS or equivalent).
• Proficiency in multiple welding processes: MIG, TIG, SMAW, FCAW.
• Strong knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and technical manuals.
• Strong knowledge of NDT/SDT testing methods and acceptability criteria.
• Strong knowledge of workplace safety practices and LOTO procedures.
• Excellent attention to detail and workmanship quality.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Leadership or mentorship experience with junior welders.
• Strong mathematical and measurement skills.
• Ability to identify welding defects and perform corrective actions.
• Ability to manage time effectively while handling multiple jobs with varying priorities.
• Physical capacity to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform tasks throughout the shift.
• Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and enter confined spaces as required.
• Availability for rotating shifts, holidays, and overtime.
• Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment.
