Job summary

Wabtec in Jackson, TN is seeking a Welder to follow drawings and instructions to assemble a wide range of products. You will weld with arc, MIG 2G, and related equipment, while ensuring quality and safety, and supporting production improvements.

How will you make a difference?

As a Welder, you will follow specified work instructions and/or engineering parts drawings to assemble a wide variety of products. You will be responsible for the quality of your work, and meeting production standards. You will continually look for ways to improve our production processes and make Safety your #1 priority every day.

What will your typical day look like?
  • Positions, aligns, and fit components together.
  • Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
  • Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, or submerged arc welding equipment.
  • Assembles parts by bolting and riveting.
  • Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.

  • Frequent standing, walking, handling, reaching outward, lifting 15lbs or less.
  • Occasionally sitting, squatting/kneeling, bending, lifting to 50lbs or more, exposure to cold/heat/humidity, loud noises, and dust or vapors within OSHA limits.
  • Vision abilities include close and distance vision, color distinction, and observe small handwriting, labels, and components.
  • Employees are always required to wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the facility including steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and ear plugs.
  • Employees will be working in the typical conditions of a manufacturing environment including seasonal variation in temperatures

The hourly pay range for this role is $28.00 to $32.00.
