Job summary

Smeal, a REV Group brand, is a premier manufacturer of fire apparatus and related equipment located in Snyder, NE. This Welder role focuses on MIG and TIG welding of aluminum and stainless steel, reading blueprints, and maintaining welding equipment to ensure quality assemblies.

Candidate should have 1 year in manufacturing, strong measurement skills, and the ability to work in a team with adherence to TPM practices and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Preferred 1 year of manufacturing experience.
• Preferred high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure for precise measurements.
• Must read blueprints and engineering drawings and perform shop math to layout, fabricate, and weld parts.
• Experience with GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG) welding.
• Ability to communicate professionally and follow directions.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Successful completion of drug and background screening.

Responsibilities

• Perform GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG) welding procedures including machine settings and fittings.
• Weld aluminum and set up/maintain welding machine and related components.
• Inspect welds for cracks, burn-through, and spatter.
• Weld aluminum and stainless steel where required; grind and clean areas.
• Stay current in TPM and basic mechanical adjustments on equipment.
• Follow hazardous waste disposal program and fire prevention procedures.

A Day in the Life of a Welder at REV:

• Perform all GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG welding procedures including machine settings, bottles, and necessary fittings.
• Welding Aluminum and set up and maintaining welding machine (tip, liner, changes, etc.) and welding vertical, horizontal, and overhead.
• Inspect welds for cracks, burn-through, and weld spatter.
• Welding of aluminum and stainless steel where required.
• Grind and clean areas where required.
• Stay current in TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and basic mechanical adjustments on all equipment as needed.
• Follow hazardous waste disposal program and fire prevention procedures.

Required Education, Skills, And Experience To Be Successful

• Preferred 1-year experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Preferred high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure for precise measurements.
• Must read blueprints, engineering drawings and perform shop math to layout, fabricate, and weld various parts and assemblies.
• Must process knowledge and experience in GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG Welding machine.
• Ability to communicate professionally and follow directions.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Successful completion of the drug and background screening

Physical Demands In This Role

• Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, and climbing up and down ladders.

• Ability to work in non-temperature-controlled environments.
