Job Summary

In a safe, efficient and professional manner, the Welder/Fabricator will support the Facility Manager and meet the demands of the Customer. The role involves completing work in a timely manner, installing, repairing, and fabricating metal materials to ensure availability and functionality of required items. The incumbent will practice safe work behavior, ensure that all equipment and tools operate safely and as designed, and immediately correct any safety deficiencies that arise.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain welds on various items and materials using a variety of processes.
  • Repair metal surfaces to ensure safe and efficient use.
  • Install items such as railings and fences to complete projects safely and within established time frames.
  • Maintain shop equipment, tools, and vehicle to ensure availability and functioning of required items and safety.
  • Coordinate with on-site team and Customer to complete projects/work orders efficiently.
  • Request equipment and supplies for assigned projects.
  • Assist other trades personnel as required to support them in completing their work activities.
  • Respond to emergency situations as needed to resolve immediate safety concerns.
  • Transport various items to ensure availability of materials required at job site.
  • Be available for weekend and non-shift work as required.
Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have successfully completed formal welding training programs; documentation or certificates will be required.

Business Experience

  • 1-5 Years’ related experience is required.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Must possess applicable welding certifications and licenses.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Technical Qualifications & Skills

  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Physical Demands

Technician is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle mechanical equipment, and climb ladders. Occasionally required to sit, reach with hands and arms, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift or move more than 100 pounds.

Work Environment

Dynamic environment including offices with minimal noise level, as well as research and development/manufacturing areas with moderate noise and vehicle traffic, with exposure to dust and debris. Personal protective equipment (including eye protection, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection as required) is mandatory while performing routine tasks. Welding-specific PPE is required for job-related responsibilities.
