Job summary

PlayCore Holdings, Inc. is seeking a skilled welder/fabricator to join our manufacturing team. You will set up tools, perform end-to-end welding tasks, and ensure finished parts meet specifications.

Responsibilities include interpreting weld symbols and blueprints, operating MIG and stick welders, and maintaining quality under scheduling constraints. Proficiency with safety standards and ability to lift up to 50 lbs is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • AA or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 6 months to 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Selects and sets up the necessary tools and equipment for assigned work orders.
  • Performs assigned work from start to finish including gathering, measuring, cutting, laying out, and bending materials using appropriate machinery then tacking, welding, and cleaning product.
  • Operates manual wire feed welders and automatic welders to produce quality welds using the appropriate welding wire, heat, arc, speed, depth, and bead size.
  • Operates equipment and machinery according to specific operation and safety instructions including MIG welders, oxy/acetylene cutting torches, portable band saws, notching/shearing machines, power drills, benders, roll cutters, and swage formers.
  • Performs welding operation in several modes including MIG and/or stick, following customer specifications on standard and custom work orders, sketches, blueprints, verbal instructions, and other forms of instructions.
  • Produces a first piece according to product requirements and specifications and obtains approvals prior to proceeding.
  • Reads and interprets weld symbols, blueprints, specifications, diagrams and/or schematics to ensure appropriate welding process.
  • Observes tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and specification conformance including, blend and close welds, pin holes, removing splatter from product using proper tools and proper techniques to avoid damaging the product.
  • Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness and weld quality in relations to specification conformance.
  • Responds quickly to priority changes and works well under pressure due to scheduling constraints and performs quality work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Confers with supervisor to resolve welding problems or on-the-job issues.
  • Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to supervisor.
  • Promotes the Company’s mission, values, and commitment to quality.
  • Other duties not described herein as assigned by managing supervisor.

Education and/or Experience

Travel


  • May be required to travel between local facilities.


Computer Skills


  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook is preferred.


Other Requirements


  • Able to safely lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Able to sit, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, push, pull, crawl and reach overhead.

  • Able to continuously stand and walk on hard floors for the duration of a full shift (up to 10 hours).

  • Able to continuously handle, feel, manipulate a variety of shapes, sizes, textures, and materials.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Able to read and interpret a variety of documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Able to obtain AWS Certification within 6 months of hire date if required.
