Job summary

Responsibilities

• Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies per specifications
• Select tools, materials, and gas ratios for different jobs
• Prepare metal surfaces for production
• Tack-welds or welds components using electric, gas, arc welding equipment
• Cut work pieces with powered saws or hand tools
• Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
• Inspect welds for quality and conformance to specifications
• Maintain records and keep work area clean and safe
• Interpret engineering drawings to plan layout and welding operations
