Job summary

Vital Link Inc. specializes in jet engine test facilities and sound suppression systems, requiring a Welder I to join our team. You will weld assemblies to shop drawings, follow work orders, and ensure quality, safety, and proper documentation through each stage of production.

The role emphasizes reading fabrication drawings, maintaining welding equipment, and adhering to ISO9000 policies and AWS standards. Outdoor/open shop work with standard shifts and occasional overtime is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 1 year welding experience preferred.
• Must pass AWS test in 2G (horizontal) for 3/8” and 3G vertical for structural steel 3/8” size.
• Ability to read fabrication drawings and welding requirements.
• Knowledge of steel and sheet metal fabrication and welding.
• Welding certification preferred but not required; must meet VLI welding tests/requirements.

Responsibilities

• Weld assemblies according to shop drawings and signed work routers.
• Follow work order instructions and document inspections; maintain material/part identification.
• Maintain welding equipment and control welding electrodes, gas, and supplies.
• Ensure welds comply with VLI welding procedures, project specs, and AWS standards.
• Set up basic weldments to enable fast, quality welding.
• Follow safety practices and report equipment issues to supervisor/maintenance.
• Keep weld-out area neat and orderly.
