Job summary

Oshkosh Vocational in Murfreesboro, TN seeks an experienced Welder I to interpret blueprints and routing sheets and to work with MIG and TIG welding. You will set up equipment, weld aluminum components, drill and grind welds, and maintain a safe, clean work area while following instructions and safety rules.

Minimum qualifications include 6 months of welding experience or a high school diploma. Hands-on welding and blueprint-reading skills are essential for success in this on-site role with

Qualifications

• 6 months or more of relevant welding experience or High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous welding experience with MIG welding.
• Proficient in MIG welding as demonstrated by an on-site weld skills test.

Responsibilities

• Set up and assemble various components for welding.
• Weld out of position.
• Set up machine for welding.
• Weld aluminum components (bench, MIG, TIG).
• Drill and grind welds.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills.
• Regular attendance required.
• Communicate verbally with co-workers to keep a safe working environment.
• Follow written and verbal instructions to complete tasks.
• Apply measurements to parts and equipment.
• Use and operate hand and power tools.
• Lift light and/or heavy parts on and off a cart, floor, shelf, etc.
• Operate a crane/hoist for heavy lifting.
• Assist co-workers with heavy lifting of parts.
• Understand the differences in parts and tools.
• All other duties and responsibilities that are assigned.
