Job summary

Air Distribution Limited in Alabama seeks a skilled welder to perform flame-cutting, MIG welding, flange piping, and related metalworking tasks on-site.

You will read tags, set up welders, measure with a tape, and work with a team to meet production goals, with emphasis on safety and attendance.

This entry-level role requires a high school education and 0–2 years’ factory experience; training provided where needed.

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent; factory experience preferred.
  • Ability to read safety rules and operating manuals.
  • Willingness to learn welding setups and tooling.
  • Able to work in a team and maintain attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Read tags and read gauges as part of setup and inspection.
  • Tack weld with MIG welding processes.
  • Flange pipes correctly and efficiently.
  • Build and stuff wall fittings per spec.
  • Change lead and liner as required.
  • Use tape measure for precise dimensions.
  • Set up welders per specifications.
  • Select shielding gas and attach to gun.

Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW

Position will work in Weld, Round, and Flange and will weld, cut and braze metal pieces and products by using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment.

KEY ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Able to read tags.
  • Ability to tack weld with MIG weld.
  • Able to correctly and efficiently flange pipe.
  • Build and stuff wall fittings.
  • Able to correctly change lead and liner.
  • Ability to use and read a tape measure.
  • Setup welder correctly according to specifications.
  • Able to choose the correct shielding gas and attach to welding gun.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school education (or equivalent) preferred and/or previous factory experience preferred with 0 to 2 years’ experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in standard units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to adhere to delegation of authority and lead by instructions of management and supervision.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Basic computer skills may be preferred or required.
