Overview

Responsible to complete various types of weld preparation, the actual welding and weld finishing operations to manufacture product to customer drawings, specifications, or other forms of instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Proficient in assigned welding techniques
  • Interpretation of mechanical drawings, including weld requirement symbols
  • Knowledge of wire and filler materials applications for various steel alloys and aluminum
  • Working knowledge of fixtures and weld set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.)
  • Cut position and clamp together fabricated and raw metal products preparatory to weld.
  • Use of conventional and precision measuring instruments
  • Process inspection, certification, and documentation
  • Some knowledge of welding equipment maintenance
  • Finish grinding applications using manual and power tools
  • Follow all safety regulations and precautions and maintain housekeeping in the working area

Qualifications

  • Must be able to speak, read and understand English.
  • Should have good communication skills
  • High School diploma or equivalent and successful completion of an internal welding test.
  • One-year experience in various forms of welding
  • Must be able to climb, twist, bend and stoop.
  • Must have use of hands and be able to work over-head.
  • Must be able to stand, squat, and grasp.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Required to stand for continuous periods of time.
