Qualifications

The Industrial Welder/Fitter will be able to perform ASME quality in one or more of the following disciplines: Stick (SMAW), Flux Core (FCAW), and/or TIG (GTAW). The position will be responsible for reading and interpreting P&ID’s and blueprints to join, fit, fabricate, and assemble tanks and/or heaters according to project specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Perform calculations and operations with mathematical data.
  2. Utilize a variety of hand tools and devices in the manufacturing of tanks or heaters.
  3. Apply standard welding techniques for joining and repairing metal and other weld materials.
  4. Perform quality work in a safe and efficient manner.
  5. Seek continuous improvement in processes and workflow to drive positive change.
  6. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  7. Achieve departmental and company goals to accomplish the mission.
  8. Promote and educate others on Astec’s core values.
  9. Follow company policies, procedures, and safety rules at all times.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in welding.

  • Deadline-driven with a strong work ethic.
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills to understand product descriptions, document activities, and communicate deficiencies.
  • Ability to handle sudden project changes and multiple tasks simultaneously in a positive manner.
