Job summary

Core Group Resources is seeking an experienced Welder/Fitter for a marine repair shipyard in Paducah, KY. You will cut, fit, and weld steel components for towboats and barges, following blueprints and repair specs with precision and safety.

Ideal candidates are proficient in SMAW and FCAW, able to weld in all positions, and comfortable working outdoors, at heights, and in confined spaces. AWS certification is a plus and ability to pass pre-employment screening is required.

Responsibilities

• Cut, fit, and weld steel plate and structural members on barge and towboat hulls, decks, and internals.
• Read blueprints and repair specifications to lay out and fabricate replacement steel.
• Perform SMAW, FCAW, and carbon arc gouging in all positions.
• Use torches, grinders, and fit-up tools to remove damaged steel and prepare joints.
• Inspect your own welds for quality and correct defects.
• Follow yard safety, hot-work, and confined-space procedures.
