Job summary

Vican Manufacturing Solutions is seeking an experienced Welder/Fitter to join our fabrication team. This position welds structural steel and assemblies, reading drawings and weld symbols to lay out and fit parts.

You\'ll perform MIG and flux-core welding, verify fit-up and dimensions, operate grinders and drills, and uphold safety and quality controls to meet production schedules.

Qualifications

• Read fabrication drawings and weld symbols.
• Proficiency with MIG and flux-core welding.
• Able to pass a welding test.
• Experience fitting structural members, plates, clips, supports, and miscellaneous steel.
• Ability to use a tape measure and layout tools.
• AWS welding certifications are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and weld symbols
• Lay out, fit, and assemble structural steel components
• Perform MIG and flux-core welding in accordance with project requirements
• Verify dimensions, elevations, and fit-up before welding
• Operate common fabrication equipment, including grinders, saws, torches, and drills
• Maintain weld quality and workmanship within required tolerances
• Identify drawing or material discrepancies before fabrication continues
• Follow all company safety and quality-control procedures
• Maintain an organized and safe work area
• Work with supervisors and quality-control personnel to meet production schedules

Qualifications:

• Previous structural steel fitting and welding experience preferred
• Ability to independently read and work from fabrication drawings
• Proficiency with MIG and flux-core welding
• Ability to pass a welding test
• Experience fitting structural members, plates, clips, supports, and miscellaneous steel
• Ability to accurately use a tape measure, square, level, and other layout tools
• Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work as part of a team
• Must be able to lift and position materials as required in a fabrication-shop environment
• AWS welding certifications are preferred but not required
