Job summary

Siemens in Sacramento, CA seeks a Fitter/Welder I to support the fabrication of stainless-steel passenger rail car bodies. You will perform MIG welding, fitting, tacking, and assembly using drawings, jigs and fixtures to ensure quality from start to finish.

You will inspect welds for quality, repair defects as needed, and operate welding equipment while maintaining safety and scheduling. A high school diploma or GED is required; 3–5 years MIG stainless welding experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited weld education program and 2+ years MIG welding experience.
  • AWS certification for stainless steel welding is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Weld, fit, tack, and assemble stainless-steel passenger rail car bodies and subassemblies using drawings, jigs, fixtures and welding equipment.
  • Ensure welds and assemblies meet welding standards, engineering specs, tolerances and quality requirements.
  • Inspect and repair fabrication defects while maintaining workmanship and safety throughout manufacturing.
  • Safely operate welding tools and complete work orders with accurate labor hour tracking to meet production targets.
  • Adhere to PPE, safety regulations, and maintain a clean, compliant work environment.

The starting hourly rate is $23.01 plus there is a 10% shift differential for 2nd shift and 20% shift differential for 3rd shift.
